Missouri Judge Upholds Ballot Language Restoring Protections for the Unborn

Cole Country Court House

Cole County Judge Daniel Green has upheld the ballot summary written by Secretary of State Denny Hoskins for the proposed constitutional amendment that would once again ban most abortions in Missouri. The court ruled the summary language was “fair and sufficient,” a major victory for truth and transparency. This ruling marks a decisive step forward for pro-life Missourians who have worked tirelessly to restore moral clarity and legal protection for the unborn. It also reaffirms the state’s right to present voters with clear and honest ballot language that accurately reflects the intent of the measure.

Official Ballot Summary Language

“Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to:

• Guarantee women’s medical care for emergencies, ectopic pregnancies, and

miscarriages;

• Ensure women’s safety during abortions;

• Ensure parental consent for minors;

• Repeal Article I, section 36, approved in 2024; allow abortions for medical

emergencies, fetal anomalies, rape, and incest; and

• Prohibit sex-change procedures for children?”

This language is clear, honest, and accurate. It tells Missourians exactly what they will be voting on without spin or deception.

Almost immediately, the ACLU of Missouri and other radical left-wing groups promised to appeal. They do not want voters to know the truth. They would rather twist the language and mislead Missourians into supporting abortion on demand. Their goal is confusion, not clarity, not honesty, and certainly not the health and safety of women and children.

Secretary Hoskins stood firm, and Judge Green agreed. This victory is also a credit to State Senator Rick Brattin, whose Senate Bill 22 established the rules that allow the Secretary of State to rewrite ballot summaries overturned by activist courts. Thanks to Senator Brattin’s leadership, Missouri voters will now see language that reflects reality rather than the left’s propaganda.

The Fight for Amendment 3 Is Far from Over

While this ruling is an important win, our work is far from finished. The battle over Amendment 3, the amendment to once again protect Missouri’s unborn children and families, will now shift to the court of public opinion. The abortion lobby has millions of dollars and will use every trick in the book to distort the truth before Election Day.

MO Protects is leading the charge to ensure every Missourian understands what is at stake. But we cannot do it without your help. Every yard sign, every mailer, every video, and every outreach event depends on people like you standing up for life and truth.
