RFK Jr. Sounds Alarm on Abortion Pill Safety—Missouri Must Act
Last week, U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sent shockwaves through Washington when he raised serious concerns about the abortion pill mifepristone during a Senate hearing. While abortion advocates rushed to dismiss his remarks, his testimony underscored what pro-life Missourians have known for years: the abortion industry has not been honest about the risks of chemical abortion, and women are paying the price.
Kennedy pointed to troubling research that suggests as many as 1 in 10 women suffer serious complications after taking mifepristone. Pro-abortion groups quickly attacked the study and tried to downplay the dangers. But instead of open debate, we continue to see political leaders and media outlets cover up the truth and protect the abortion industry at all costs.
Even more concerning, Kennedy suggested the Biden administration has twisted safety data to make abortion pills look safer than they are. If true, this represents not only a betrayal of science but a betrayal of America’s women. They deserve the truth about a drug that is increasingly pushed through the mail and promoted without proper medical oversight.
Here in Missouri, we have lived through decades of deception by the abortion lobby. Every safeguard we put in place was fought tooth and nail. Every law we passed to protect mothers and children was challenged in court. Even now, after voters enshrined Amendment 3 to defend life, abortion activists are trying to undercut it with new ballot measures and courtroom maneuvering.
Kennedy’s testimony is a reminder that the fight is not over. Chemical abortion is the new frontier—more common, more dangerous, and harder to regulate. Missouri cannot afford to be passive. Protecting our families and our values means defending Amendment 3, closing loopholes, and standing firm against an abortion industry that will stop at nothing.
