When Courts Police Faith: A Wake Up Call for Christians in Missouri

A story out of Maine should shake every Christian in America wide awake. A mother has been barred by a judge from taking her own daughter to church. The court even restricted her from reading the Bible with her child. This was not a case of abuse. This was not a case of neglect. This was a court deciding that certain teachings about heaven, hell, angels, and judgment were too “distressing” for a child. In other words, the government decided it had the authority to police doctrine.

If that does not alarm you, nothing will.

A Government Comfortable Regulating Faith

The lower court claimed that normal Christian teaching caused “psychological harm” and used that as justification to shut down a mother’s right to pass on her faith. It took only one judge. One courtroom. One order. Suddenly a woman’s First Amendment rights were erased.

This is what a government looks like when it becomes comfortable regulating faith. We like to pretend things like this only happen in far away places that have lost their moral compass. But Newsweek is reporting this happening in the United States of America.

And if it can happen in Maine, it can happen anywhere.

The Warning for Every Christian

Christians have lived with the illusion that if we keep politics at arm’s length the world will leave us alone. That fantasy is gone. Judges are now deciding which Bible verses are “acceptable” for parents to teach their kids. That is the definition of a weaponized government.

This case is not only about one mother and one child. It is about the direction of a nation that increasingly views biblical Christianity as a threat. As culture drifts, courts drift. As courts drift, government power grows. And as government power grows, Christians find themselves squeezed out of public life.

If believers do not engage now, we should not be shocked when the state tries to police our pulpits, our parenting, our churches, and our convictions.

Missouri Must Not Sleep Through This Moment

Here in Missouri, we still have the chance to decide what kind of state we will be. Will we shrug our shoulders while government power expands. Or will we take responsibility for protecting our families, our churches, and our fundamental freedoms.

This Maine ruling is a warning siren. It is telling us exactly what happens in states where Christians stay silent and allow the cultural currents to dictate morality.

Amendment 3 Is One of the Crucial Lines in the Sand

The fight over Amendment 3 is not only about protecting unborn children and safeguarding kids from radical gender procedures. It is about drawing a line against a government that believes it can decide what is harmful and what is holy.

Amendment 3 reins in activist courts. It stops judges from rewriting morality. It puts clear protections in place that uphold human dignity and protect families from government overreach. And it signals that Missouri will not follow the same destructive path we are seeing unfold across the country.

If Christians do not step up now, we will wake up one day and wonder how we lost the freedoms we once took for granted. The truth is we will not have lost them. We will have surrendered them by refusing to act.

The Call to Action

Believers cannot sit on the sidelines anymore. Get informed. Get involved. Pray boldly. Speak boldly. Stand boldly. Support Amendment 3 and help us protect Missouri families before the weaponization of government reaches our doorstep.

Missouri must stay free. Missouri must stay faithful. And Missouri must protect its children and its churches.

This is the moment to stand. If not now, when.
