Texas Leads Again. Missouri Must Follow with Amendment 3
The Texas Legislature has once again shown the nation what it means to stand boldly for life. Last week, the Texas Senate advanced SB 7, the Woman and Child Protection Act, legislation aimed squarely at shutting down the dangerous and illegal mail order abortion pill industry. These pills kill thousands of babies and endanger countless women every year. With SB 7, Texas is taking another step in the right direction, ensuring the law is enforced, traffickers are held accountable, and the unborn are given the protection they deserve.
Predictably, the abortion lobby and their allies in the media are in an uproar. The Houston Chronicle ran an editorial blasting the bill as “anything but pro life.” Nothing could be further from the truth. The editorial repeats the tired line that such legislation will somehow prevent doctors from treating miscarriages or other emergencies. That is simply false. Pro life laws, including SB 7, clearly protect women in cases of genuine medical need. What the abortion industry is really upset about is losing access to the chemical tools of their trade, the very pills that end the lives of innocent children in the womb.
This outrage from the Left is revealing. Whenever ground is gained for life, they howl that women will suffer, while ignoring the fact that abortion always involves the suffering and death of a child. The reality is that SB 7 protects women and saves babies. That is why abortion activists are so furious. Their business model depends on easy access to abortion pills, and Texas is cutting it off.
Here in Missouri, we should take note. Right now, because of the disastrous constitutional amendment passed last year, Missouri is wide open to the abortion industry. Mail order pill traffickers and late term abortionists are eager to exploit our state’s weakness. But we have a chance to change that. By passing Amendment 3 next year, we will shut the door on these predators and make legislation like Texas’s SB 7 possible in our own state.
Texas is showing courage, but Missouri must not be left behind. Let us rise to the occasion, protect our children, and send a message that Missouri is a pro life state. Together, we can make sure that our laws reflect our values and that every baby is given the chance to live.
Help Us Win This Fight
The abortion industry is pouring money and resources into Missouri because they know we are the next battleground. They are furious that pro life states are closing the door on their business of death, and they will stop at nothing to keep abortion legal here. We cannot match them in dollars without your help.
