Truth Without Grace: Why the Abolitionist Approach to Abortion Fails Women – and the Gospel

A woman’s heartbreaking confession of abortion regret to Live Action recently went viral:

“I hate that it’s been one year. I hate myself for what I’ve done.”

Her words weren’t politics. They were pain. Yet abolitionists online treated her agony like ammunition. One well-known activist replied, “This woman is a murderer and, unless she repents, she’ll die apart from God.”

That’s not ministry—that’s cruelty wrapped in Scripture.

The abolitionist movement claims to defend life, but too often it attacks the very women Christ came to save. Their message is simple: abortion is murder, every mother is a criminal, and any law short of full criminalization is “compromise.” They rail against Missouri Right to Life, Students for Life, and groups like MO Protects for being “weak.” In truth, it’s their approach that’s weak—because it wins no hearts, heals no wounds, and saves no babies.

The Problem With Purity Politics

Abolitionists reject every incremental step: heartbeat bills, parental consent, rape exceptions. They call them “regulating murder.” But while they posture online, real pro-life advocates are passing laws, funding ultrasounds, and meeting women in crisis.

They mistake outrage for obedience. Condemning hurting mothers doesn’t glorify God; it glorifies self-righteousness. Jesus met sinners with truth and compassion—never mockery. Truth without grace isn’t holiness. It’s hypocrisy.

MO Protects: Compassion That Saves Lives

MO Protects believes Missouri can defend life and love women. That’s why we’re leading the 2026 fight for Amendment 3—a strong, life-affirming constitutional protection that restores the rights stripped away by 2024’s radical abortion amendment.

Our plan protects babies after 12 weeks, includes narrow exceptions for rape, incest, and medical emergencies, and expands free ultrasounds, counseling, and material aid for moms. We go after the abortion industry—not the mother.

Because women don’t need to be branded as murderers. They need to be shown the mercy that leads to repentance.

A Call to Truth, Grace, and Action

To the abolitionists: passion for justice without love for people dishonors both. Stop dividing the movement. Start serving women.

To Missouri voters: stand with life, compassion, and truth. Vote YES on Amendment 3 in 2026 to reverse 2024’s damage and make our state a refuge for mothers and children.

Join the fight, volunteer, and share your story.

Because real pro-life conviction doesn’t scream “murderer” from behind a keyboard.
It reaches out a hand and says, “You’re forgiven. Let’s build something better.”
